چکیده

Platelet-specific antigen Sib' has been highly implicated in the pathogenesis of refractoriness to human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched platelet transfusions in Japan. We provide evidence that the Sib' antigen is located on the glycoprotein (GP) Iba and has a close association with the molecular weight (mol wt) polymorphism of GPlb. In modified antigencapture ELISA (MACE), anti-Sib' antibody reacted only with GPlb/lX held by a murine anti-GPlb/lX monoclonal antibody (MoAb). The reactivity of anti-Sib' antibody to Sib'-positive (Sib'+) platelets was abolished after they were treated with Serratia marcescens protease. Platelets from 50 healthy volunteers were semiquantitatively phenotyped for Sib' antigen by MACE and divided into three distinct groups: strongly

Human platelet antigen polymorphism in bronchial asthma

Background: Asthma is recognized as a common cause of disability, of great economic cost, and of preventable deaths. In this study we aimed to test our hypothesis to evaluate the relationship between the Human Platelet Antigen-1(HPA-1) polymorphism and bronchial asthma and its severity, which would suggest genetic variances that may be responsible for expression or activation of these receptors...

Association between rs2735839 and Serum Prostate-specific Antigen Level Regarding Risk of Prostate Cancer in Iranian Population

Background and Objective: Prostate cancer is among the five common cancers in males. It is second cancer in terms of the age-standardized rate (ASR) (ASR=16.6) in Iran. The rs2735839 G/A, an intergenic polymorphism is located on chromosome 19q13.33 at 600 base pairs of the KLK3 gene untranslatable region. This gene which codes prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is used in the screening and diagnos...

The role of platelet microparticles in the production of antibodies from B lymphocytes against HLA-DR antigen in vitro

Background: Platelets can activate B cells and stimulate them for the production of antibodies. Since platelet microparticles (PMPs) originate from platelets, they may have the same virtue. In the present study, the effect of PMPs was investigated on the production of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-specific antibody from B cells in vitro. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, HLA-D...

P-203: Investigating Association of HLA-G Gene Polymorphisms and Failed Implantation in Human Embryos

Background: HLA-G is a non-classical human leukocyte antigen expressed primarily in fetal tissues at the maternal-fetal interface. The unique structure of HLA-G molecule permits a restricted peptide presentation and allows the modulation of the immune system. There is now general agreement that HLA-G is an important immunotolerant molecule with the capability of inhibiting immune cell functions...
